Would it occur to you that between you and someone who created the blueprint for your life, you’re the only one that could be surprised by anything that happens?
Think of it. You write a script for a production and in the middle of the action, should/would you be surprised at the unravelling of events? For something you wrote?
Then why would God be surprised when you get disappointed, or something didn’t go according to your plan, or something undesirable happens? He would have to start running helter-skelter to find a solution, no? He’d have to start worrying and panicking to either change the rest of the script/blueprint or find something that works for the bad part.
Imagine if that was the God we have and on whom we’re supposed to rely for all of our lives — our type of person (you and I) that can’t say for sure what the next best thing is and can’t guarantee that the end will be good. The person that mentally flies off the handle when something goes wrong. The person that may not know what the way forward is. The person that may not know which piece of the mighty puzzle that is life fits next. The person that we can’t lean on for direction for the future because he doesn’t know for sure what lies ahead. The person that can’t say for certain that something will work out because he can’t see into the future — you know, like you and I.
Ha! I’d roll my eyes to the moon and back and be permanently depressed being stuck with someone like that, knowing the outcome of my life — and even my daily living — depends on him.
Thankfully 😌, that’s not the God we have. The one we have knows the end from the beginning because He scripted the whole thing top to bottom — got all the necessary equipment and tools, the props and all, the facilities, locations, settings, everything you could possibly think of — before He even decided to start production (Eph. 2v10)!
That’s not all. He already made the environment (irrespective of where we go or seem to wind up because, hey, the one we have is the Master of the universe 😏) and everything in it for our purpose for that time! As we cover different grounds, things in those places adapt to our presence and fall in line for the fulfilment of our purpose there. I mean, which of God’s creations doesn’t respond to His call?? Only us humans even try to play deaf 🙄.
Wait, when we get discouraged or get anxious or fearful of what lies ahead, around or within, He even built us (yes, you and me! 😁) such that our factory settings include an internal encouragement system that simply needs to be activated in time of worry, anxiety, doubt or discouragement — His Holy Spirit! In John 14v26, Jesus tells us that the Father sent the Holy Spirit to represent Him (Jesus) in our lives and act as everything we need and more in our darkest times.
So, fear not, when things don’t go according to plan or you get disappointments or things just don’t seem to be working out for you. God is not surprised. Nothing went wrong or fell out of place. It’s all part of the plan. HIS plan, not yours or mine. We may not know what’s in it, hence our worry and anxiety. But rest assured it’s for good. Your own good. My own good.
Key into the depth of insight in Jer. 29v11 and remember that Jesus is sufficient and that you are consequently self-sufficient in His sufficiency (Phil. 4v13). Outside that grace, disappointments and closed doors can amount to no good. Don’t be disappointed in vain 😜. Take advantage of that grace and don’t lose your mind over that thing/person you lost or are going to lose. All and unimaginably more are to be regained eventually — we have eternal life in Christ, remember 😎?
