I was reading a plan on YouVersion some days back and Hebrews 11 vs 3 was one of the readings. At first, it seemed like one of those verses you scratch your head trying to find deeper meaning to. Here, see for yourself:
“By faith [that is, with an inherent trust and enduring confidence in the power, wisdom and goodness of God] we understand that the worlds (universe, ages) were framed and created [formed, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose] by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.”
HEBREWS 11:3 AMP
I love how this verse may seem complex and void of applicability prima facie. But here’s what I’m getting from it: there is clearly MORE to life than what we see or perceive with our senses.
In the beginning, God called forth things that were invisible to make things that we still see millenniums after. God called forth the first man into being; He did not pick anything from the already existing things in the garden of Eden to do that. He called forth man out of nothing. What’s more, He breathed life into the man! Surely, you cannot see air or breath.
When we as humans call things into being, by the power of God vested in us, there is one element that is required for those things to come into being — FAITH. That’s it. Just plain old faith. There’s no special ritual to be performed; just to apply faith.
We are able to call things into being because we have been given sonship when we accepted the Father’s gift of salvation. Therefore, we have inherited, by grace, the power to call forth things from that which does not lend its visibility to the human eye.
Faith does not ever favour sensitisation; it requires you engage what you cannot see. You need it to call forth things that are yet to be, things that are or will be. The point is that faith is invisible. It is the invisible thing with which you call into being other things.
When you go to bed every night, you engage FAITH that you will wake up the following morning. When you make future plans, you engage FAITH that you will still be alive by that time, that that thing will happen at that time, that everything will fall into place and lead to the manifestation of that future plan.
Faith is the invisible thing that we believers use to call into being things that are visible. The ingredient is not visible, but the end result is. That’s faith for you, folks 🙂.
